    News SEO

The free News SEO module for the WordPress SEO plugin creates XML News Sitemaps for your WordPress blog, including images. It’s based on the latest standards for XML News sitemaps and should allow your WordPress site to show up in Google News.

Because of the XSLT stylesheet that comes along with it, the news sitemap is formatted easily for the eyes:

The module immediately pings Google on the publication of a new post and because it uses the WordPress SEO plugins’ sitemap API it creates a sitemap on the fly: no waiting times, no long sitemap generation issues.

    Advanced News SEO

The module allows you to do a bit more advanced News SEO by allowing you to decide whether a specific article should be in the Google News XML feed, set a genre and define stock tickers:

Installation of the News SEO Module

Inside your site’s plugins folder, usually wp-content/plugins/, create a folder called wordpress-seo-modules. Download the News SEO module and upload the wpseo-news folder contained in it to that new wordpress-seo-modules directory.

If you go to your SEO Dashboard, you should now see this new box:

Click on “enable” and you’re done: your sitemap should now work. Open your site’s sitemap_index.xml sitemap and you should see your new News Sitemap added to this index sitemap. You have the option to add extra post types to your news sitemap here, as well as set a default Genre etc.

    News SEO Module Development

The module is in active development, though it can be considered stable for use. Feel free to browse the source and more at
